| Notes |
Chemistry is the study of the physical and chemical properties of matter, the atomic structure, the composition and reactions of many substances, the conditions for reaction and percentage composition involved in these reactions. Laboratory experiences are used to reinforce classroom presentations. Chemistry is college-preparatory class for those students considering nursing, engineering, medical and scientific areas of study. Unit Objectives: Unit I. Introduction to Chemistry Unit II. Atomic Model & The Periodic Table Unit III. Periodic Table & Periodicity Unit V. Chemical Reactions and Stoichiometry |

differentiated Chemistry |
Differentiated Chemistry includes the same course content as Chemistry, but with greater depth. More advanced topics are also included; nuclear chemistry, molecular orbital theory, kinetics, thermodynamics, chemical equilibria, and redox chemistry. Laboratory activities rely more on student design and critical thinking skills. Experiencing the scientific method by exploration gives a greater sense of scientific research. This is a weighted class. Unit Objectives: Unit I. Introduction to Chemistry Unit III. Periodic Table and Periodicity |

Advanced Chemistry |
Advanced Chemistry is an advanced laboratory course for scientifically motivated students who have successfully completed either Chemistry or Differentiated Chemistry. This course introduces students to the basic concepts of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry with hands-on experiences that reinforce the learning objectives. Students have an opportunity to gain relevant experience with laboratory equipment and techniques utilized in modern research laboratories. Students are expected to evaluate current science research by maintaining a journal of current reading and seminar discussions. This is a weighted class.
