Chapter 7. Chemical Quantities

1.   Identify the representative particle of a substance by it's chemical composition.

2.       Describe a mole of a substance by the amount of particles.

    a.       Define Avogadros Number

3.       Define Molar Mass in terms of atoms, compounds, & molecules.

4.       Use gas densities to calculate molar masses of gases.

5.    Calculate percent composition of a specific element in a compound.

6.       Calculate empirical formulas by using the molar masses of the elements found in the compound.

7.       Calculate molecular formulas by using empirical formulas and molecular masses.

 

Chapter 8. Chemical    

 

1.       Describe a chemical reaction in terms of quantities of reactants and products.

2.       Correctly balance chemical reactions by using coefficients.

3.       Identify chemical reactions according to the following types:

a.       Combination/ Synthesis reactions

b.       Decomposition reaction

c.       Single-replacement reaction

d.       Double-replacement reaction

e.       Combustion reaction

4.       Predict the reactive nature of certain metals by using the Activity Series of the metals.

 

Chapter 9. Stoichiometry

1.       Write a balanced chemical reaction and identify the ratio of reactants used and products formed.

2.       Calculate the quantitative amounts of reactants & products in a chemical reaction (using moles, particles, mass & volume).

3.       Identify the limiting reagent in a chemical equation and calculate product formations.

4.       Calculate the theoretical yield of a product in a chemical reaction.

5.       Calculate percent yield from a chemical reaction.
